Jessica Heinrick
Veterinarian
Dr. Heinrick was born in Portland, Oregon and has loved animals since early childhood. After completing her undergraduate degree in biology, she attended veterinary school at Washington State University, completing her DVM in 2003. She pursued three years of additional graduate training in equine nutrition in Colorado before practicing as a large animal veterinarian for a year. She met her now husband while both were working at temporary positions in Oregon, and moved to Burns, OR in 2010. Dr. Heinrick practiced out of her pickup, working primarily on horses, for two years before taking time off for motherhood. In 2018, she began offering a mobile equine dentistry service concentrated in Central Oregon. It wasn’t until 2021 when she started working as a primarily small animal veterinarian in Burns, OR that she realized how enjoyable and fulfilling companion animal practice could be. This realization has led her to Hometown Animal Hospital!
A very special cat, Porsche, sent Dr. Heinrick down the road to cat addict status ten years ago, a condition from which she hopes never to recover. She has been completely in love with horses for her whole life; she shows no signs of recovering from that condition, either. Dr. Heinrick shares her life with her two favorite humans (husband and daughter), and a plethora of animal friends including horses, cats, dogs, two hens, a duck, the inimitable Porsche and a pet cow named Pickle. Dr. Heinrick’s professional interests include internal medicine, nutrition, and preventive care. When she isn’t busy with work, she enjoys music, hiking, reading, watching movies, and taking road trips, particularly with horses in the trailer.
